On its own towards more sustainable forest management
Leftover wood often disappears into the incinerator or with the bulky waste in the container park. Jens from Spruce Goose, a circular woodworker, uses those scraps to turn them into unique wood products. From cutting boards to kitchen worktops.
Wood is an inexhaustible raw material, provided we use the wood we have sustainably and manage our forests sustainably. That is exactly what Spruce Goose does: recovering local wood, processing it into a new end product.
How does Spruce Goose source all this wood waste? Through regular partners such as Kringwinkel Antwerpen, circular enterprise Recuplan and Buurman Antwerpen. These organisations recover surplus wood and process it into basic materials, such as beams and planks. Jens uses these craft products himself, or he enlists the help of tailor-made companies to finish his custom-made projects.
Those collaborations allow Spruce Goose to make up to 200 wood products every month in all possible forms: cutting boards, flatware, frame frames and even kitchen countertops. During the team building 'ROND.' founder Jens also passes on all his knowledge to employees, so that they leave for the workplace with a self-made souvenir and knowledge about circular entrepreneurship.
