Modular HVAC system makes energy-efficient living affordable

1 box containing a heat pump, buffer tank, home battery and all the technology to supply a building with heating, cooling, ventilation, electricity, Internet, solar and filtered rainwater? LITO played it up. With the LitoboxⓇ they make renewable energy scalable and affordable, and energy-efficient building a whole lot easier.

Small ecological footprint
“The LitoboxⓇ saves time during the construction process and EPB reporting, reduces the number of trucks carrying building materials and reduces the amount of packaging waste,” explains CEO Lieven Smeyers. “It is delivered in 1 piece by crane on site and you can connect it in a few hours. To insulate the box, we use insulation material that other companies throw away. The steel buffer tank, stainless frame and pipes are made from recycled materials. The wooden cladding is made of FSC-certified wood. All parts, pipes and connections can also be taken away and reused.”

From single-family homes to large construction projects
The smallest LitoboxⓇ L1 is installed in single-family homes up to 150 m² in size and takes up less than 1 m². The largest LitoboxⓇ is the L7 Rooftop. It brings together the technologies for up to 8 apartments and can be placed on the roof. This saves valuable space in the apartments. In addition, the roof of the box is equipped with a solar system. Thus, even on the roof the space is used optimally. For even larger construction projects, LITO designs a custom LitoboxⓇ.

To measure is to know
And it doesn't stop there. LITO also wanted to permanently monitor and digitally adjust the performance of the LitoboxⓇ in order to improve the installation's performance every year and optimize energy consumption. With the LitoDataⓇ digital platform, LITO is also fulfilling that objective. “For example, residents can heat their sanitary water when the sun is shining. Even more: during a daytime heat wave, they can cool extra instead of cooling at night when there is no solar energy. Thanks to the platform, we also know perfectly when the LitoboxⓇ needs technical maintenance.”

Saving extra energy with an app
What also has a big impact on energy consumption? The way the residents live and reside. “That's why we want residents to become energy experts and are developing the LitoAppⓇ. That gives them insight into their consumption and tips on how to save energy. If they adjust their daily routines accordingly, they can save up to 40% more energy in extreme cases,” Lieven concludes.
