BLAF Architects from Lokeren, is investigating how to dismantle, recycle and rebuild a recently built recycled passive house into a new passive house. In the process, they are receiving advice and support from UGent.
BLAF is concerned about the reusability and recyclability of today's built heritage with traditional building methods such as the cavity wall. Therefore, there is a continuous search for more sustainable hybrid building methods in its own projects. With great self-criticism, BLAF investigates how a recently built project can be dismantled, recycled and rebuilt.
UGent offers advice and support from an ongoing doctoral research by Katrien Devos into the reuse potential of materials from the existing housing stock.
