Flanders DC has launched the Close The Loop project to introduce the Flemish fashion industry to the concepts of sustainable entrepreneurship and the circular economy. For the 2018-2019 period, it has selected eight fashion companies to focus on social corporate responsibility, each with a perfectly tailored programme.
Flanders DC - Flanders District of Creativity - is the one-stop-shop for creative entrepreneurs. It is the result of a merger between Flanders DC, Design Vlaanderen and the Flanders Fashion Institute. This non-profit organisation works under the auspices of the Flemish government. It supports creative entrepreneurs in the start-up, growth and/or professional development of their business.
Given that the fashion industry is one of the most polluting and water-guzzling sectors all over the world, Flanders DC has quite an arduous task ahead, raising awareness among all those creative Flemish entrepreneurs on the need for greater sustainability.
The online information and inspiration platform Close the Loop was launched in 2015 to meet this challenge. But Flanders DC took it one step further. In 2017-2018, the non-profit organisation launched a new programme to assist three very different fashion companies with their corporate social responsibility.
Encouraged by its great success, Flanders DC launched Close the Loop for 2018-2019. The idea behind this programme is to give eight established and up-and-coming Flemish fashion businesses a sustainability immersion. The programme will be very similar to the previous one, obviously keeping account of all lessons learned.
Each company will benefit from a custom programme, advice from a network of external consultants, knowledge transfer and cross-fertilisation through two scheduled events.
