Chemical company Oleon awarded 'Factory of the Future'
Chemical company Oleon in Oelegem was recently named 'Factory of the Future'. This prestigious title, awarded by an independent jury, crowns the most advanced and future-oriented production companies in Belgium.
Oleon is the European market leader in oleochemistry or green chemistry. The Oelegem-based chemical company transforms bio-based raw materials, such as vegetable oils and animal fats, into basic ingredients for cosmetics and the food industry.
The company has a clear ambition: to offer a full range of safe and sustainable solutions in different sectors, driving the global transition to a carbon-neutral economy. Their latest investment is an enzymatic esterification plant. This will allow them to make products with less energy consumption and lower CO2 emissions in the future.
Natural raw materials are at the heart of the company: 95% of their raw materials are renewable and for the remaining 5% they are constantly looking for greener alternatives. "Natural chemistry is everywhere and natural molecules are indispensable for a sustainable society," they tell us.
As a 'Factory of the Future', Oleon is among the top international companies and a pioneer in sustainability.
