Paneltim

West Flanders company recycles air scrubbers from agriculture

Producer of plastic sandwich panels Paneltim buys air scrubbers from the livestock industry to make new panels with its Buy Back Programme, among other things. In this way, less waste ends up in incinerators and the company needs fewer new raw materials for production.

Innovative recycling process

As part of their buy-back programme, Paneltim collects old panels that have served the livestock industry for years. Air scrubbers remove odours and pollutants from the barn air before it goes outside. The company wants to convert the plastic panels from the old air scrubbers into high-quality raw materials for the production of new panels, specifically for agriculture. To reuse the collected material, Paneltim has developed an innovative recycling process that removes odours, bacteria and viruses from plastic.

30 tonnes of plastic in a year

Sustainability has always been an important issue for the company. Around half of their panels are made of 100% recycled plastics. With their Buy Back Programme, Paneltim goes one step further. It helps ensure that high-quality, recyclable raw materials will remain available in the future, at an acceptable price. Since January 2023, Paneltim has already given 30 tonnes of plastic a second life.
