POM West-Vlaanderen (the West Flanders Provincial Development Agency) is an agency that implements the social and economic policies of the Province and has been made independent. Its aim is to give the drivers of the West Flemish economy and its SMEs a significant boost.
The agency has found that youngsters are not sufficiently aware of the limitations of our linear economy. However, we must keep in mind that today’s youth are tomorrow’s entrepreneurs and policy makers. Therefore, they largely hold the key to a transformation of our economy. POM wants to give tomorrow’s entrepreneurs an insight into the main possibilities of the circular economy.
As part of this project, POM developed an educational game for pupils in middle and higher secondary school allowing them to step into the shoes of an entrepreneur who wants to transform his business model into a circular one. An app leads them through the various steps of the transformation process and encourages them to tackle the challenge via a series of practical tasks. The game challenges the participants to critically question their mindset and consumer behaviour.
