2025 Annual report

2025 once again showed that our raw materials are exceptionally valuable. Through our six work agendas, we implemented numerous circular actions to strengthen our independence in a year marked by geopolitical tensions. The seven levers served as a booster to address bottlenecks efficiently and to disseminate our lessons learned. Across all levels, from European regulations to local multiannual plans, intensive efforts were made to enhance the resilience of the Flemish economy. Together, we can further strengthen the circular economy in Flanders as a safe haven in turbulent times.

2024 Annual report

In 2024, we demonstrated that we are the leaders in Europe in the circular economy. During the Belgian Presidency of the European Council, we worked hard on the transition to more circularity. And we set an example with our unique approach in a broad partnership.

In Flanders, the 6 strategic agendas started work setting up circular actions and widely sharing the knowledge we had built up. The 7 strategic levers pulled out all the stops to translate bottlenecks into opportunities wherever possible. Together we can further strengthen the circular economy in Flanders and maintain our position as leaders.

2023 Annual report

Within the six strategic agendas, we actively experiment, analyse and take action. In 2023, it became clearer than ever that the circular economy is the only way forward. Once again, we worked hard on this with the Circular Flanders partnership.

We continued to do that in 2024, with two clear priorities: identifying the obstacles to putting the circular economy into practice and strengthening the bridge function across departments and sectors.

The 7 strategic levers turn bottlenecks into opportunities wherever possible, to keep ever more products and materials in circulation. Together, we are committed to a circular economy for Flanders

2022 Annual report

It was undeniable: 2022 was an exceptional year for the circular economy in Flanders. Circular business is spreading across Flanders and penetrating deeper into all sectors. Small businesses, local governments, educational institutions, financial organisations ... they are increasingly looking for circular solutions.

This acceleration and broadening is exactly what is needed to make circularity mainstream . To change ways of thinking and acting. We also kicked off new initiatives and deepened the partnerships in 2022.

With a growing network, we are putting circularity high on the agenda, and we will be able to take bigger steps forward in the coming years. This report takes a closer look at what we accomplished together in 2022.

2017-2019 Annual report

2017-2019 Annual report

This report provides an overview of the work done by the Circular Flanders operational team over the past few years. It is also the end of the intial period. When Circular Flanders was started, we created a 'rolling programme' for the period 2017-2019 with our Starting Declaration. This look back is a response to the plans in that declaration.

The publication also features our steering committee members: organisations from business, academia, civil society and governments. They also took responsibility and set up actions to promote the circular economy in their fields of work. Each partner presents their own vision and realisations in a concise fact sheet.
